Creating Your Network

Digital Network

A paramount, almost foundational part of the entrepreneur’s life is networking. It seems less necessary when you are just trying to get your business started or when you are still in the planning stages, but it starts there. It is never too early to start going to networking events and connecting with people who can help you. You will never know who is there unless you are there. People at networking events are mostly like-minded individuals focused on meeting other people with diverse avenues and perspectives. There could be some investors in the room, future mentors, and at the very least interesting people with whom to share ideas with at the event. Everyone is an opportunity.

What is Your Pitch?

An elevator pitch is a quick introduction to your business. Essentially your pitch is a 60 seconds who, what, when, where, and how of your business. When we have passion behind something we love, we want to share everything about it right? A practiced pitch will help you share your business concisely. You will also know how to customize to your audience. If you're at a specialized networking event focused on business that helps the community, your pitch should include the service side of your business and the impact it makes in the community around it. Your approach will change if you are at an event with potential future investors. Then you want to focus more on the success and financial aspects of your business. As you go to more events you will learn how to quickly read the room to know what aspects to focus on to attract those that will help you the most.
